Migration Points Advice (MPA) is for applicants applying for permanent skilled migration who require points advice for their visa application to the Department of Home Affairs (Home Affairs) in occupations TRA is authorised to assess. Applicants to the MPA program are required to have a successful skills assessment from TRA or a TRA-approved Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
The MPA is a paper based skills assessment of your qualification/s and employment history to determine comparability with Australian standards for a skilled worker in your nominated occupation.
The MPA outcome is used to advise Home Affairs about eligible qualifications and employment when assessing your visa application.
TRA does not provide specific information on migration or visa requirements, and does not issue points. All migration points test enquiries must be directed to Home Affairs (www.homeaffairs.gov.au).
You are required to check with Home Affairs whether you require points advice before submitting an application to TRA.
You are eligible to apply for the MPA program if you:
have a successful skills assessment from TRA or a TRA-approved RTO in your nominated occupation;
are seeking to apply to Home Affairs for a points tested visa in a skilled occupation assessed by TRA.
To receive points advice you must provide documents relevant to your nominated occupation to show that you have:
qualifications and/or an apprenticeship; and
completed full-time (or equivalent part-time) paid employment during the last 10 years.

Payments for the MPA Program can be made online by Visa or MasterCard credit/debit card through the TRA Online Portal. TRA will not refund the above fees if you decide to withdraw your application once assessment has commenced.
When you use the TRA Online Portal, a payment summary containing a customer reference and receipt number will be produced. You must submit the payment summary with your application form.
